COMMUNIQUE OF THE MEETING OF TRADITIONAL RULERS OF DELTA NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT; DENIES ADOPTING CAIRO OJOUGBOH

At a Forum of Traditional Rulers of Delta North Senatorial District held on Sunday 19th September 2010 at the Palace of the Obi of Owa, on the purported adoption of DR. CAIRO OJOUGBOH as the Senatorial Candidate for the District by the League of Delta North Traditional Rulers as published in Vanguard Newspaper on the 14th of September, 2010 on page 4 and other issues, Members, after extensive deliberations resolved as follows:

That the League of Delta North Traditional Rulers is alien to them and that they did not attend the said meeting where the adoption of DR. CAIRO OJOUGBOH was said to have been made.

That the publication is meant to preclude other aspirants for elective offices from visiting the palaces of Traditional Rulers for purposes of selling their manifestos through them to the electorates.

That Traditional Rulers are not partisan politicians and therefore cannot and will not adopt any particular aspirant or political party.

That members dissociate themselves from the said publication as published in some print media.

That we call on the Government at all levels and INEC to provide a level playing field for all aspirants and political parties.

That Delta North Senatorial District Traditional Rulers stand by one man, one vote.

That we pray for credible, peaceful, free and fair election in the forthcoming general elections.

That we support and stand by the unity of Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.

Finally, we pledge our unalloyed support and loyalty to the Governor of Delta State.

The motion for the adoption of the Communique was moved by HRM Alhaji Mustapha Uche Irenuma and seconded by HRM Obi Solomon Chukwuka I and was unanimously adopted.
