EZINNE EUNICE OBIOKOR ONYECHE LAID TO REST

It was a gathering of who is who on Friday 4th January, 2011, at Ime-Obi, Agbor, as the body of late Ezinne Mrs. Obiokor Onyeche (nee Ibegbulem) was laid to rest at her family compound at number 7 Edike Street.

The elaborate burial which attracted dignitaries from Agbor and beyond had in attendance, captains of industries, top civil servants, politicians, academics, among others.

Preaching during the funeral mass held in honour of Ezinne Onyeche at St. Columbas Catholic Church, Ime-Obi, Rev Father Alphonsus Osemene described the late Ezinne as a true born again Christian who served God whole heartedly in her days on earth, saying that he has no doubt in his mind that she is in heaven, resting at the bosom of the Almighty God. Rev Fr. Osemene added that he is very happy and proud to be associated with the Onyeche family, who in his estimation have contributed immensely to the growth of the work of God.

Praying God to grant Ezinne Obiokor Onyeche, an eternal rest, he urged her children to always emulate the good life that their mother live. He called on Christians to get ready everyday to answer the divine call of God, which is death.

As Christians, we should get ready everyday. For we are living in a world that appears deceptive, people live as if they will not die, what they fail to know is that at the back of all celebrations in life is death. We are all going to die, whether we like it or not. The wisest thing to do now is to listen and obey the voice of God, Rev Fr Osemene declared.

In his tribute to his late mother, Dr. Onyeche Ifeanyi, who is based in Sweden, and is the administrator of Ikaworld.com, said our mother was a lioness in every sense. While she was very protective of us, she made sure that we realized our individual strength by never making it easy for us. With her, you got it if you worked for it. Her presence in our lives has made us who we are today.

Mrs. Henrietta Ifesemen, eldest daughter of Ezinne Onyeche in her tribute, described her late mum, as an epitome of a virtuous woman whose reaction to any problem was prayer. You have finished your race and fought a good fight. It is time to rest, she said.

Larry Egun Onyeche, one of those who passed through the good tutelage of Ezinne Onyeche described her as a very industrious and productive mother, who succeeded greatly in her roles both as a house wife and business woman.

Late Madam Ezinne Eunice Obiokor Onyeche was born in Ime-Obi on 15th, December 1943 into the families of late Philip Ibegbulem of Ute-Okpu and late Madam Anna Ekaze Gbenoba of Agbor royal lineage. She was before her death a resourceful mother and devout Catholic, where she was a member of several pious societies in St. Columbas Catholic Church. She was survived by her lovely children, family members and friends. In a thanksgiving mass on Sunday, booked for the final repose of her soul, Rev Fr. Patrick Isichei prayed God to accept the late Ezinne, who according to him, was a huge blessing to the church, when she was alive
