APPEAL COURT UPHOLDS OKOWA ELECTION

The election of the Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has been upheld by the Appeal Court sitting in Benin-City. The court last week dismissed the appeal filed by Jude Azeakwor against the ruling of the election tribunal at Asaba Jude Azeakwor earlier in his petition claimed that he was the candidate of the Democratic People Party, DPP which he said defeated Dr. Okowa in the April National Assembly election.

The appellate Court held that the suit was incompetent as it was filed out of time. The court also threw away the appeal by Prince Ned Nwoko who earlier claimed that he won the same election.
