WATER SHORTAGE IN UMUNEDE CAUSED BY POWER OUTAGE

The District Manager of Delta State Water Board, Umunede, Mr. Emmanuel Ozah has said that the workers of the board are ready to supply water to the inhabitants of the area, 24 hours every day but for the electricity power supply which is not regular in the area.

Commenting on the current water shortage in Umunede and its environs, Mr. Ozah said that the Umunede Water Pumping Station is functioning, adding that if there is constant power supply, the people would enjoy uninterrupted water supply.

He said he has visited the office of Power Holdings Company of Nigeria to plead for regular power supply, adding that the situation has not improved since then.

The District Manager therefore appealed to the traditional rulers, chiefs and people of Umunede to assist the station in appealing to the authorities concerned to secure enough fund to purchase gas for the generating machine, so as to make water available to the people at all times.
