Acknowledging
the current breakdown of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Asaba television,
the Manager, News and Current Affairs in DBS Asaba, Mrs. Evelyn Binitie, says
plans are underway for a 24-hour transmission by both the radio and
television arms, to address the
problems of poor signals in parts of Delta North, Particularly the Agbor axis.
The MNCA
added that although the radio arm of the state-owned broadcast station is
currently functioning well across the state and neighbouring states, a new
transmitter of wider coverage is being provided by the state government.
Binitie
said in an interview in Asaba during the week, that the move which is part of
the transformation agenda of the management, aims at keying the station into
the global trend of modern broadcasting.
To this
end, Binitie said management is already training the station’s staff, whom she
described as committed dedicated, resourceful and some of the best brains in
the country’s broadcasting industry.
While
calling for more sponsors and audience for the radio arm that is working
currently, she said the residents and prospective sponsors can patronize the
station through its correspondents in Agbor.
She
commended Governor Uduaghan and the commissioner for information, Mr. Chike
Ogeah (Esq), for their determination to put DBS Asaba, among the best in the country
