IGBODO CATHOLIC CHURCH ORDAINS 2ND PRIEST

IGBODO (Ika Weekly) – IGBODO town in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State was agog on the first day of the week, 12th Aug. 2007. It was a day Rev. Fr. Dennis Ekene Chukwudindu (a.k.a Abiandu ) who was ordained a Catholic Priest on Saturday 30th June, 2007 at Redemptions Community, Redeemer House, KLM8, New Ife Road, Kulodi village, Ibadan, by His Lordship, Most Revd. Gutemberg Freire Regis, CSsR, celebrated his mass at his home town Igbodo at St. Martins De Tours Catholic Church Igbodo.

 

Revd. Fr. Dennis was assisted at the mass celebration by other Priests including Rev. Fr. Anthony Chinakwe who was ordained 32 years ago (1975). It was wonderful as the spirit of God was everywhere. The choristers were not left out as they used serene atmosphere to put smile on the faces of the congregation, as the C.W.O. and C.M.O. performed wonderfully.

 

The second phase was the reception ceremony chaired by Mr. John Keshi who had been working towards the ordination.

 Present at the occasion were the Obi-in-council led by Dr. I.J. Unomah, the Iyase of Igbodo Kingdom. Others are Priest-in-charge, Fr. V.C Mobuogwu, Ambassador Joseph Keshi from the Cabinet Office Abuja, members presenting Knights of St. John and other dignitaries.

           

The climax of the occasion was the official handing over of the keys to the 505 car presented to the Igbodo Catholic Community by the Chairman, Mr. John Keshi.

           

During the homily one of the visiting priests – Rev Fr. Ambrose Igunbor praised the parish priest of St. Martins De-Tours, Rev. Fr. Val. Mobuogwu, for being the 1st Parish Priest under whom a 2nd priest was ordained.

 

Responding, Rev. Ekene who danced beautifully to the music supply by the choristers thanked the  congregation for a  job well done,  adding that he never expected what he saw.
