DELTA NORTH PDP HOLDS MEETING; Calls For Greater Unity Among Members

The Delta North
Chapter of the People Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State has held its general
meeting. The enlarged meeting which took place on Friday 14th
October, 2011 at Ika National Hall, Agbor was the first since the  end of the Nigerian general elections in
April.

Welcoming PDP
members from Aniocha/Oshimili, Ndokwa and Ika Federal Constituencies, the Delta
North chairman of the party, Hon Ben Obuh said he is happy with the large turn
out of PDP members in the meeting adding that this is a sign that the  party is on course. While thanking all for
coming, Hon Obuh noted that this will offer them the opportunity to discuss
ways forward for the party, stressing that PDP in Delta North is one family
because the district is one entity. Hon Obuh maintained that among the three
senatorial districts in Delta
State, Delta North is the
most focused, Peaceful and Organized.

Speaking  further, Hon Obuh said,” As PDP  family, our appeal to all is that we should
be patient. We know the plight of our people and the party is doing all in its
power to address their all. Let us forget our yesterday and forge ahead as a
family. Our dream of producing a Delta
State governor in 2015
will only be possible if all Anioma sons and daughters in PDP proved their
continued loyalty, support and commitment to the   party. From the ward, local government to
the senatorial level, all PDP members should support party chairmen at various
levels so that the party will gain more membership. The chairman therefore
appealed to all PDP faithful of Anioma extractions to forgive everyone that has
offended them in the party, stressing that if Anioma politicians continue to
bear grudges, they will not achieve their goal .

Speaking at the
meeting, the Delta State  PDP Chairman,
Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, thanked Hon Obuh for organizing a well attended meeting
saying that efforts are on top gear to democratize PDP,” We want to give power
back to our people.” Chief Nwaoboshi said PDP in Delta North is committed in
achieving the district’s dream of producing the sate governor come 2015. He
stated that though there are disagreements everywhere but those disagreements
will not deter them (Anioma people) to achieve their dream. He advised Anioma
politicians not to kill themselves over who should be governor in 2015 for God
has already ordained the whoever that will occupy the seat, adding that ,” if we,
the Anioma people are united and speak with one voice, nothing will stop us
from producing the Delta State governor in 2015,” He assured that PDP congress
billed to hold in January, 2012 will be opened for every party member to vote
any candidate of their choice.

In the same vein,
the senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Dr. Arthur
Ifeanyi Okowa expressed his profound gratitude to the good people of Delta
North for giving him the mandate to represent them in the senate. He said the only
way the Anioma people can move forward is when they are united, appealing to
Hon Obuh and Chief Nwaoboshi to be holding regular meetings so that it will
offer the party more time to discuss issues affecting the party. Senator Okowa
stated that the issues of the Ogwashi-Uku Dam Project Uromi-Ubiaja  road and other ecological problems in Delta
North have reached the senate and they will all be addressed soonest. He
pleaded for the continued support and prayers of the people of Delta North,
pointing out that legislative work is not for only one person. While announcing
a donation of N500,000 to PDP ward 4 in Ndokwa North East Local Government  in fulfillment of his campaign promise to any
ward that will have the highest voices in the National Assembly election, he
urged the people to be patient as he is not going to disappoint them.

Other PDP leaders, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Chief
Goodwill Obiehim, Hon Amechi Mrakpor and Giwa Amu stressed the need  for all 
Anioma people to unit for the common good of the district. They said if
Delta North politicians are able to unit and speak with one voice nothing will
be able to stop them from achieving their dream.
