EWURU COMMUNITY APPLAUDS OKOWA FOR BOREHOLE PROJECT – Ika Weekly

Members of Ewuru Community, Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, have applauded the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for the ongoing construction of a Solar Powered Water Borehole at the Uweifo Orthopedic Nursing Home.

The commendation was made recently by the Community Head, Pa Johnson Ogwu, during an interactive session with newsmen at his residence on Tuesday June 5, 2018. He lamented the suffering of patients at the nursing home and members of the community because of the water problem they have been facing over the years. He expressed gratitude of the indigenes on the positive development in the Community over the Borehole Project, and said they are indeed grateful to the state governor for the good gesture.

The elder statesman who recounted how it all started, said he was relaxing at home four months ago, when two men visited to inform him that the state governor, Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, wanted to construct a water borehole at the Orthopedic Nursing Home, explaining that it is not good, that patients at the home are not getting water for their domestic use. Continuing, he said he had even forgotten about the issue until this month when they re-visited to inform him that the state government wanted to start working on the project.

Speaking further, Pa Ogwu, in his words said, “We don’t have anything with which to thank Governor Okowa, our prayer is for the Almighty God to bless him abundantly, to keep him and his family in good health”.  Speaking on the second term ambition of His Excellency, the community head said, “One does not stop eating his meal, and at the same time says that the food that he is eating is not delicious”. He emphasized, that members of the community have taken the governor as their son, hence when he contested for first tenure in 2015, they voted massively for him, stressing that with his credible performances, they are also assuring him of their support and votes, so that he will continue to pilot the affairs of the state till 2023.

In a chat with Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter at the project site, Mr. Egwabor Emmanuel, who is one of the secretaries at the nursing home, appreciated Hon. Sunny Ogwu, who according to him played a major role in facilitating the water borehole project from the State Government, to the community. Continuing, he stated that management and inmate of the home are very happy with what the government is doing at the home, which he noted has shown that the government has the community at heart for positive development. On behalf of the management of the Home he thanked His Excellency for the laudable project.

Mr. Douglas Chukwuma , an indigene of the community, said he is very excited about the ongoing solar powered bore hole project, saying that  the orthopedic home has been suffering the problem of water over the years and now that the Governor is going to bring water for them they are very grateful to him.

Mr. Ifeanyi Nwoko, a patient at the home and an indigene of Onicha-Ugbo kingdom in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State, stated that he has been at the home since December 2017. He thanked God for the speedy improvement on his health and also appreciated the medical attendants at the home for their commitment to duties. He stated that formerly he couldn’t walk, but thanks to God that he can now walk round the home un-aided, he expressed happiness about his present state of health believing that soonest he would be discharged.

Speaking on the ongoing water project, he said his joy knew no bound because patients at the Home have been suffering from water since he came to the place six months ago

Continuing, he expressed optimism that before the end of June 2018, they would start enjoying water from the bore hole. He prayed God to bless the State Governor, and wished him well in his political ambition.

In the same vein, Mr. Elvis, a vehicle driver who was involved in a car accident that injured his legs, along Lagos/Sagamu Express Road, said he was brought to the Hospital in June 2017, which is already a year now, thanked God for the great improvement on his health. He commended the services of workers at the home. He also appreciated the state Government for their efforts in bringing dividends of Democracy to the Community.
