UNBELIEVABLE: Empty Casket Brought Home For Burial

The bringing home of an empty casket of late Mrs. Comfort Ozoba Oboite (Nee Ekpa), aged 95 years by his first son, name withheld on Wednesday 14th December, 2011from Lagos has been described by the people of her community in Agbor as an abomination of the 21st century.
According to the bereaved family, late Mrs. Comfort Ozoba Oboite was said have been ill and was taken to Lagos for treatment by her son. It was however revealed that some weeks later, the deceased first son came to the Village with the news that his mother, had died.
The bereaved family had thereafter informed the community of the date of the burial for which preparations were made. On the appointed date the ambulance arrived at the home of late Mrs. Comfort Oboite at the odd hours of 5. 30am took the community by surprise as it was to be discovered later that the casket was empty. It was further disclosed that the late matriarch eldest son who was in a hurry to carry out the burial exercise at first did not allow his mother’s casket to be opened; instead he sat on top of it in order to prevent people from opening it.
Ika weekly gathered that when he was forced out of the casket, it was discover that the mothers corpse was not in the casket, the ambulance driver drove off quickly, while the musician that was hired to play in the burial start to pack his musical instruments.
When interrogated by the community, the alleged ritualist said he had buried his mother in one of the cemeteries in Lagos without the knowledge of his family members but the community believed the young man must have used his mother for money ritual.
The community council of elders ruled that the empty casket should be removed immediately from the village and ordered the alleged ritualist to perform certain traditional rites so as to cleanse the abominable act.
