A popular Ika high life musician, who hails from Igbanke in Orhionwmon Local Government Area of Edo State, Patron Gabriel Ogbekile, has been honoured with a double Chieftaincy title of Onyeweihian and Onyegbayegbon of Igbanke by the Enogie of Omolua Kingdom, HRM I.O. Uwafoi, JP.
The glorious and colourful event which took place on the 9th April, 2012 at the Enogie’s of Omolua compound, attracted dignitaries from all nook and crannies of Ika and beyond, family members, friends and well wishers.
The honour according to the Enogie is to appreciate Gabriel Ogbekile for his contribution to the growth and development of Omolua Kingdom in Igbanke. The Enogie described Chief Gabriel Ogbekile as a very loyal and respectful subject and, of course, one of the prominent musicians in Ika Land. He thereby charged him to join other Chiefs in the kingdom to bring about more development and upliftment to the entire Igbanke Kingdom and to always think about what he can do for his community and not what he will get from his community.
Chief Gabriel Ogbekile, the Onye weihan and Onyegba ye egbon of Igbanke, thanked the Omolua Monarch for honouring him, saying that this opportunity given to him will spur him to contribute more to the Kingdom and humanity in general.
The Royal father of the day, HRM Obi Alioma Collins, speaking with newsmen, said for the people of Igbanke Kingdom to recognize him and honour him as a chief, that means he is due for the position and he prayed that God will make him live long as a king.
Also speaking to newsmen the Obi of Ute-ogboji, HRM Gabriel Chukwuma Jikeme I, also prayed that God should grant Chief Gabriel Ogbekile long life and prosperity to enjoy the priviledges and honour that has been bestowed on him.
Chief Oseh Sunday, the Odafin aka Eze of Oligie described Chief Gabriel Ogbekile as a hardworking, honest and always ready to assist others at the time of their needs and urged him never to deviate from doing good but should rather keep up the good work.
Dr. Sunday Osayande, aka Derico, on behalf of his family expressed their gratitudes towards this honour given to Chief Gabriel Ogbekile and prayed that God will always keep him.
The high point of the ceremony was offering of words of prayers, advice to Chief Gabriel Ogbekile and posing for a group photograph with the Enogie and his palace chiefs.
At the end of the ceremony, guests were treated to a warm reception at Chief Gabriel Ogbekile’s compound in Oligie-Iganke. Also, some talented young Ika highlife musicians like Adviser Uche and King one Nigeria Jnr. and his Harmony Band (Expo 100) thrilled the guests.
Dignitaries present at the occasion were Chief Mrs. Magret Ogboi, the Onye-weihan of Aki, Evang Ngbakor, Chief Last Born, Chief Okwu Okenyen I, the Inneh of Owa Kingdom who was the Chairman of the day, king one Nigeria Eluehike, Men 2 Men Social Club, Omoya group, Ihunanya meeting, Alama Social Club, Orhionwon Vigilante Group and to numerous to mention but a few.
