Abavo kingdom was agog recently as His Royal Majesty,
Uche Irenuwa II, took a wife. The marriage ceremony according to sources from
the Royal palace was low keyed as not many personalities were invited except
chiefs from Abavo kingdom. The marriage took place prior to the new yam
festival. The new queen who looks like a european (Oyibo) woman is said to
have hailed from Ndokwa East Local Government
Area of Delta State.
Speaking to newsmen during the new yam festival
celebration which commenced on the 1st of October and ended on Tuesday 9th
October 2012, at the royal palace, Chief (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ehijene, the traditional
Prime Minister of Abavo kingdom, said �the people of Abavo are happy because
their king has taken a wife. He said the kingdom has never experienced a new
yam festival of such magnitude as Chiefs came to pay homage to the king, and
with the presence of teeming supporters who came to the palace to celebrate
with the king .�
He used the opportunity to announce the newly inaugurated executive of
the Abavo Youth Council, with Christopher Okenye and Ajayi Chucks as
co-president, Odimegwu Moses, vice president, Leonard Onwuemeri secretary,
Igowese Otor and Bright Natama as Provost. He said that other members of the
executive are Ndidi Padilo, Okonta Ibezim, Igwe Oah and Morka victor.
Peace has finally returned to Abavo kingdom. Our
people should remain peace loving as
they have always been. His Royal Majesty, king Uche Irenuma is a peace loving
king and expects his subjects to be peace loving,� as well.
