COURT DECLARES KENNETH OFFOR THE AJEH OF EKWUOMA

 


Federal High Court sitting at Owa- Oyibu, headquarters of Ika Northeast
Local Government Area, Delta State has on Monday, 18th February, 2013 declared
Chief Kenneth Offor as the true Ajeh of Ekwuoma, thereby putting to rest the
tussle over the Ajehship position at Ekwuoma.

            Delivering
her judgment Justice Corcilia Ogadi said the case brought before the court with
suit number HCY 2420115 by Chief Chinedu Chukwujindu asking it to withdraw the
certificate earlier given to Chief Offor by the Delta State Government as the
Ajeh of Ekwuoma and declare him (Chief Chukwujindu) as the true Ajeh, lacks
competence, hence, it was struck out by the court.

            The
court had in May 2013 struck out third and fourth defendants of the suit which
were the attorney. general of the state and the office of the Chieftaincy
Affairs because it was brought to it before 90 days as recognized by the law.
The counsel to the first and second defendants, (Chief Kenneth Offor and His
Royal Majesty Stephen Osagie Obi of Akumazi kingdom), Barr. A.O Ewere prayed
the court to strick out the suit for it lacked competence, which the court
finally did on Monday.

            Obi
Osagie, who spoke through High Chief Eric Ekabudike hailed the court judgment,
just as he thanked the judiciary for the land mark judgment.
