WATER BOREHOLE DONATED BY GUINNESS NIGERIA PLC TO OZA-NOGOGO COMMUNITY COMMISSIONED

 

The water
borehole donated by Guinness Nigeria Plc to Oza-Nogogo community, in Ika South
Local Government Area, Delta State  has
been commissioned. Commissioning the water project on Tuesday, 19th February,
2013, the Dein of Agbor kingdom, His Royal Majesty Benjamin Keagborekwuzi I
thanked Guinness Nigeria for executing such a landmark project at Oza-Nogogo
community, saying that the entire people of Agbor kingdom are grateful to
Guinness and are hoping that the company will continue to identify with the
kingdom particularly in the  area of infrastructural
development.

                In their address, the Oza-Nogogo
community appreciated the presence of the Dein of Agbor, governor of Delta
State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan ably represented by Commissioner of Water
Resources in the State, Dr. Chris Oghenechovwen, announcing that an apex
Oza-Nogogo group, known as Oza-Nogogo Elite Foundation has donated money for
the purchase of 22KVA generator to power the borehole. The community said they
appreciate the efforts of members of the borehole committee  for the roles they played  towards the successful execution of the water
project.

Parts of the
address presented by Oza Nogogo community reads, “in particular, we want to
appreciate the Dein of Agbor kingdom for his renewed effort at seeing to the
development of Oza Nogogo. We are particularly pleased witht the recent
approval of the construction of the Dein Palace-Oza-Nogogo road which was
facilitated by His Royal Majesty, the 
Dein of Agbor kingdom. The road project if completed will help to revive
the dwindling economic fortune of the people of Oza-Nogogo. We pledge our
unalloyed support for the kingdom.”

                The community commended Guinness
Nigeria for executing such a laudable water project in their area, even as they
implored other corporate bodies in Nigeria to emulate Guinness. They described
the gesture by Guinness as a right step in the right direction and also
appealed to the brewery giant to assist in the distribution of the water to the
entire quarters in the community as only 40% of the quarters have water from
the borehole linked to their areas.

                “This again, is a wake up call
to the Delta State Government, especially to renew their commitment to rural
communities such as Oza-Nogogo. We appealed to you to take a look at our
market, primary and secondary schools which have been in deplorable conditions.
Supporting our Royal Majesty, the Dein of Agbor to timely fund and complete the
recently approved road project will be a welcome development,” they said.

                The community thanked the
transition committee chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Andrew
Obiazi for his support and also for releasing the sum of N1.5 Million for the
purchase of solar generator with which to power the borehole. They also thanked
Queen mother Victoria Ikenchuku, Commissioner of Millennium Development Goals,
Delta State, members of Agbor Nigidi and all others who contributed to the  completion of the water project.

                In his speech, Governor Emmanuel
Uduaghan who spoke through, Hon. Chris Oghenecheovwen commended Guinness
Nigeria for the gesture, disclosing that the Delta State government  is poised to execute extensive water projects
in various communities in Agbor.

                The president-general,
Oza-Nogogo Elite foundation, Mr. Victor Ndabulele, on behalf of members of the
foundation thanked Guinness and all those who contributed in one way or the
other towards the successful completion of the water project.

                However, the Managing Director
and Chief Executive Officer, Guinness Nigeria PLC, Mr. Seyi Adetu, in his brief
speech said that the water Project that was executed by the company at
Oza-Nogogo is part of its water for life project going on across the country,
assuring that more of  such projects will
be executed at Oza Nogogo if the facilities are well taken care of. He thanked
the Dein and the entire  Oza Nogogo
community for the warm welcome they accorded him and members of his entourage.
Mr. Adetu was earlier at the Dein of Agbor palace at Ime-Obi where he presented
a copy of the 2013 Guinness Book of records to the monarch.

                The Dein, was assisted in the
commissioning by both Mr. Adetu and Dr. Hon. Oghenechonwen. Also in attendance
was the president general of Agbor Community, Major Gen. Nick Agbogun, rtd, who
while thanking Guiness Nigeria for their gesture appealed to the people of
Oza-Nogogo to participate more in the affairs of Agbor kingdom.

                Among those present at the
historic event were the Ogisi of Oza-Nogogo, Pa Solomon Oriahi, Idibodein
Chiefs, members of Agbor community, members of Oza Nogogo Elite Foundation,
members of Agbor Nigidi and members of Oza Nogogo Community.
