OWA-OYIBU (Ika Weekly) – Doctor’s Wives Association (DWA) a non-governmental organization, Agbor zone recently donated some cooking equipment to the General Hospital, Owa-Oyibu in appreciation of what General Hospitals in the state are doing to protect and save lies in the state.
Presenting the items which include cooking gas, stove, gas cylinder and large tower cooking pot, the president of the association, Lady F.C. Omumu said the gifts were to meet the needs of the hospital to ensure adequate health care services to the people in the area.
Lady Omumu said members of the association were aware of the needs of the various hospitals in the area and will continue to assist them as they are part and parcel of the health institutions in the state and expressed the hope that the equipment will further help the hospital staff in sterilizing hospital utensils for safer usage by those in charge of the sensitive areas of the hospital.
Receiving the items, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Martins Orie thanked the association for its kind gesture and called other non-governmental organizations in the area to come to the aid of the hospital in its efforts to improve on the health care delivery system in the area.
Dr. Orie said the greatest need of the hospital is adequate supply of power, pointing out that the generating set in the hospital is not powerful enough to carry the autoclave machine used for sterilizing hospital equipment.
He therefore, appealed to public-spirited individuals in the area to come to the aid of the hospital to enable the staff discharge their duties effectively.
