FOREIGN NGO, MIN. OF ENVIRONMENT TO PARTNER WITH BIOGAS DEVT. NETWORK

 

 

An international
and non governmental organization, R20 and the Ministry of environment, Asaba,
have lauded the ingenuity of the managing director, Biogas Development Nework
(BDM), Engr.  Ifeanyi Aghaulor and
promised to partner with him.

                Engr. Aghaulor, a Mechanical
Engineer and graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, lle-Ife won the hearts of
participants in the recently concluded two days workshop on climate change held
at Hotel Benizah, Asaba where he successfully demonstrated his new invention on
biogas and solar water heater.

                The workshop which was organized
by the Ministry of Environment at the instance of the state government was
attended by officials from the ministries of Environment Health, Agriculture,
Land and Survey and Energy, including representatives of some local and
international  organizations.

                During the workshop, Engr.
Aghaulor was given time to explain and display his technology. All those who
participated at the workshop were highly impressed with the presentation which
lasted for more than one hour. The BDM director cleverly answered all the
questions put across to him by the participants.

                Happy and Satisfied with the
presentation, the R20 representative and consultant with the Delta State
Government on climate change, Mrs. Denise Welch said that her, organization is
very much interested in the scaling up of home grown technologies such as the
Biogas, pointing out that R20 major objective is to reduce energy consumption
and lower green house emissions, hence, projects like biogas will not be toyed
with.

                The permanent secretary,
Ministry of  Environment and the project
manager, Territonal Approach To Climate Change (TACC) during the workshop said
that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is strongly committed to the issue of  climate change and that he is doing
everything  possible to see that the
vision see the light of the day in Delta State. She thanked Engr. Aghaulor for
accepting the invitation as one of the resource persons at the workshop. She
assured that the ministry will continue to partner with home grown scientists
who are authorities in climate change .Some participants at the workshop who
spoke, lauded Engr. Aghaulor and promised to assist him to scale up the
technology
