Authorities of the College of Education, Agbor, yesterday ordered the immediate closure of the school following a bloody clash between two rival factions of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) over tussle for change of leadership at the motor park.
Vanguard gathered that the Agbor motor park located adjacent to the school had been turned into a battle field by the two rival factions, who are fighting over who becomes the next chairman of the park.
As a result of the clash, which has been raging for a week now, two persons had so far been identified to have lost their lives while several drivers have been wounded. Dangerous weapons including daggers, guns, bottles were said to have been freely used.
The latest victim of the crisis was identified as one Mr. Stephen Idegwu who is said to be a strong supporter of one of the factions.
It was for fear of possibility of being caught in the cross fire or be drafted that the school authorities ordered the temporary closure of the school. Efforts to reach the state police command’s spokesman, Mr. Josephat Nwoye on the death toll in the clash and efforts to end the crisis were unsuccessful.
