The member
representing Delta North at Delta State Board of Internal Revenue and two times
aspirant for Ika federal constituency at the House of Representative seat,
Chief Barr. Frank Nwugo has during the week described the poor state of
infrastructures in Ika land as regrettable. He said that the failure to provide
functional infrastructures for the people is the reason why there is high rate
of poverty in the land. Chief Barr. Nwugo, who is also a member of Peoples
Democratic Party, spoke to newsmen during the funeral service of late Mrs.
Nwaikere Ojoh at Boji-Boji, Owa. He said as a result of lack of awareness of
the people, and political maneuverings going on in the area, the people have
been misrepresented. He therefore urged them to vote, a credible leader, that
will represent them. They should not vote for people that will go into the
office for their selfish interest, saying that it will be a waste of time and
resources for the wrong candidate to be elected.
Speaking
further, Barr. Nwugo enjoined the electorate to take a serious look at issues
that are affecting the development of Ika to know who can deliver the true dividends
of democracy to the people. He lamented the high level of poverty, and under
development in the area. He said that the only way the people can move forward
is when their leaders live above board and focus on how to deliver democratic
dividends to the people.
He concluded by
calling on the people to know that Nigerian democracy has come a long way
hence, the need for the people to protect it at all cost by rising against
corrupt leaders.
