National Association of Ika Students (NAIS),
Delta State University Chapter, Agbor Campus is set to hold their cultural day.
Speaking
to Ika Weekly reporter in an interview, NAIS Agbor Campus chapter president,
Comr. Boi Simeon, Comr. Omahor Kim, Secretary General and Hon Sunday Agbontean,
NAIS Agbor capus chairman plaining committee, explained that NAIS is an
umbrella body of all Ika students in different higher institutions in Nigeria
They
said the annual Ika cultural day foundly called as “Kpara-Kpor” will hold on November
21, 2014 at the open field of College of Education, Agbor, new site, aimed at
galvanizing all Ika students in higher institutions, at home and in diaspora to
celebrate Ika culture together.
The
chapter executive emphasized that part of the occasion is to showcase to
parents that they are still protecting their cultural heritage for the next
generation and also to make them understand that the Ika culture will not die.
Speaking
further, the president , Comr. Simeon, decried the non-compliance of parents,
political leaders and business gurus from Ika land not turning out enmasse to
celebrate the day with them, noting that the attitude has become a mockery to
them as the host community by other ethnic groups in the campus.
According
to him, “the Ika cultural day is not meant for only Ika students to celebrate
but also for parents and other notable personalities from Ika”. He disclosed
that in this year NAIS Ika cultural day celebration, dignitaries expected to be
present includes; Royal fathers and council Chiefs from Ika land, Senator, Dr.
Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt. Hon Sam Obi, Hon Martin Okonta, Ika local government council
chairmen, Hon. Hilary Ibude, Mr. Okoh Chukwuyem Festus (a.k.a Chuky Dandy), Mr.
Henry Ojete, Princess Ijenwan, Chief Emmanuel Tibi (Phd), Chief Ugbekile
(Omekeoku I), Dr. Ugbo Onyemchi, Mr. Igunbor, Hon. Ndidi Martins, Mr. Emeri,
Hon. Peter Aliagwu, chairman, N.R.T.W, and all sons and daughters of Ika land.
He appealed to all to make the day whort a while through their presence and thereby
promised to be fun filled event as their will also be enough to eat and
drink.
