One of the best schools in Ika land that was
founded in 1954, MaryMount College located in the heart of Boji-Boji Metropolis
is 60 years in existence.
Outlining the program of events to mark the
anniversary at Ika Weekly office, the principal of the school, who happens to
be an old student, Rev Sister Winifred Diagboya said, “We are here to tell Ika
people that Mary Mount College is 60 years old.
We are going to celebrate on November 15, 2014 beginning with
thanksgiving mass presided by Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, Most Rev.
Dr. Michael O. Elue. We are expecting
all old girls of Mary Mount College to come and enjoy the day. Our chairperson
will be Prof Azuka Oparah of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin. We
will also be having a fund raising and a grand reception to mark the event. At
the evening of that day, we will gather the old students for a gala night from
5pm. It is going to be a celebration of one day but we hope to mark it in
style.
We are informing everyone that MaryMount is back
and better. The mission has taken over the school and we are working hard to
regain the past glory which we almost lost.
We are also hoping that through this
celebration, some of the structures that need renovation will be attended to
because we are expecting the dignitaries to assist us.
We are inviting everyone to come and celebrate
with us at MaryMount College”.
