The family of
Mr. Andrew Oseni, who hails from Etsako, in Edo State but resides in Boji-Boji,
Owa were thrown into mourning on Monday, April 20, 2015 when their two sons,
David Oseni, 6, and Shadrack Oseni, 4 were found dead in a deep freezer.
Narrating the ordeal, the father
of the children, Mr. Andrew Oseni said that David and Shadrack were left at home on that fateful day to
complete the assignment given to them at school. In his words, “My children
went for their school lessons on that
fateful day. It was closing time they returned with their mum, ate lunch and
started doing their school’s assignment for the day. I came back home and met
them doing their assignment and later left to bring my generator that was with
the repairer. When I came back, the doors were locked and everywhere was quiet.
I put on the generating set. Being curious to know if the house hold appliances
were working well, I checked all our appliances and later got to the deep freezer where we
normally keep pure water for sale. I opened it and saw that it was dark
indicating that items were inside. I pondered within myself as there was no
item in the freezer, prior to then as the generating set has been under repairs
for three days. It was my curiosity that
made me look further to see the item in there. As I opened it and put my hand
it, I felt human skin. I took a deeper look and discovered that it was my
children. I raised an alarm and I brought them out but they were all weak and
unconscious. With the help of some persons around, we took them to a near by hospital but were later transferred
to Anioma Hospital where they were confirmed dead.”
Mr. Oseni who spoke in tears
said that the death of his children on the same day remains a mystery to him as
he does not know what led to their entry into the deep freezer as they have
never opened that freezer to take any thing before.
The two children David and
Shadrach were said to be intelligent pupils of Rock of Ages Group of Schools
and were in Primary One and K.G 2 respectively.
As at the time of filing this
report, the bodies of the children had long been deposited at the Anioma
Mortuary.
Upon investigation, a family
member of the deceased, Comr. Kenneth Onyeleuche, also known as D.J. Kentro who briefed the newsmen said that
with the support of the Nigeria Police men, they were able to run an autopsy
text which confirmed that David was strangled to death
