OWA-ALERO (Ika weekly) – Owa Alero Community in Ika North-East Local Government Area, which has been in total blackout for eleven months, has called on the authorities of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to do something urgently to restore power supply to the area.
Making the appeal at the Okpara Palace, Owa-Alero on Friday, the spokesman of the community, Mr. John Ekome disclosed that the community has been in total blackout for the past eleven months thereby paralyzing social and economic life of the people.
Mr. Ekome disclosed that majority of the inhabitants who utilize electricity for their business have left the town or contemplating to do so. He therefore appealed to the authorities to do something fast to save the economic life of the people.
He also called on Ika North East Local Government Council to come to their aid in rebuilding Owa-Alero market, which he said has since dilapidated.
The community also called on Owa Alero sons and daughters to contribute their quotas towards the development of the area.
Owa Alero community specifically expressed thanks to three of their sons, Chief Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Chief Godson Echiegile, and Hon Emmanuel Nwaeboh for their contributions towards the development of Owa Alero town.
