IKA WEEKLY – It was jubilation time in igbodo community on Tuesday 14th April 2009 as His Royal Majesty, Ikechukwu Nkeobikwu Osedume 1, the Obi of Igbodo Kingdom honored 2 prominent sons of the kingdom with traditional chieftaincy titles. The occasion drew dignitaries from within and outside the state to felicitate with the recipients, as different groups of people with traditional dance band accompanied the awardees to the palace where the ceremony was performed which added colour to the event.
Those conferred with titles were Pastor Comrade Peter Chiemeke Ozili as Ekwukogbama of Igbodo Kingdom. And Dr Sunny Uzuh as Isichitume- Ugo of Igbodo Kingdom respectively.
Performing the traditional rite, His Royal Majesty, Obi Ikechukwu Nkeobikwu Osedume 1 told the people present that his late father who joined his ancestors on the 12th of January 2007 had already given them the title but that it was not officially announced to the generality of the people which is the ceremonial aspect of the conferment.
The monarch made the official pronouncement of the titles by the virtue of the power conferred on him by the law and custom of his people. He blessed some wine and gave them to drink as part of the tradition. The traditional ruler disclosed that honor should be accorded to the deserving indigenes of his Kingdom. He charged the recipients to be loyal to take Igbodo kingdom to an enviable height
Answering question from newsmen shortly after the ceremony Chief Pastor Comrade Peter Chiemeke Ozili who have served and is still serving Igbodo community, and the nation in religious, academic and socio- economic aspects, is still in the business of service, currently, he heads the Enugn Regional / Zonal Property Department of Power Holding Company of Nigeria. He pledged his loyalty to the service of Ibodo Kingdom in particular and humanity in general. He also said that the entire kingdom is privileged to have gotten an Obi who is god fearing and that God has started to reign in Igbodo kingdom from henceforth and prayed God almighty to grant Igobodo kingdom peace, unity, long life are progress throughout the reign of the present Obi.
Also speaking, chief Dr Sunny Uzuh who is currently based in United States Of America, and one time President of Igbodo Development Union (IDU) in USA, but now a patron to the union, said that Igbodo people have been yearning to have a dynamic leader who will stand out for Igbodo and take is rightful place in the assembly of all the traditional rulers in Delta State and be able to perform, socially and religiously above all, he prayed God to give the young Obi the much-needed grace to carry his people along, adding that they will continue to ask for Gods divine direction to order their steps.
