a relief committee known as Ika Relief
Management Committee was set up by Ika
National Association USA. The committee which was inaugurated by Mr. Steve
Ekiri-Mekiriuwa Ashien on 19th November 2010 is to assist in the
welfare needs of the affected families.
The committee appreciates Ika sons and daughters in the
United State of America for their prompt interventions and support for the affected families
According
to the release, signed by the (IRMC) General Secretary, Mr. Eluebo .S. Ewere,
the commendation message read thus:
“On
behalf of the families affected by the collapsed over-head water tank disaster,
at College of Education, Agbor, the Ika nation, and humanity in general, we
members of Ika Relief Management Committee (IRMC) hereby register our profound
appreciation to you, our sons and daughters in USA, especially the president of
Ika National Association, Mr. Mike Ebie, for your prompt individual and
collective donations in cash, in response to the clarion call to assist in the
welfare needs of the families affected by this disaster, the type and magnitude
of which was hitherto unknown in Ika land.
“We
sincerely commend your love, care and concern, for your people at home and
above all for your philanthropic and patriotic spirit which you have well
exhibited.
“By this
your wonderful gesture, you have done much to assuage the sorrow of the
victims, and it is our prayer that God will not leave you unrewarded.
On our
part, we promise on our honour, that we shall not betray the trust you have for
us and that every kobo received will be equitably disbursed to the affected
families.
Finally,
it is our prayer that such a misfortune which causes misery for people will
never befall us again in Ika land.
