Members of Ika East Forum (I.E.F.), led by their chairman, Chief Frank Igwebuike, the Odabemeze of Umunede Kingdom, were at the Christ Anglican Church of Nigeria, Umunede in Ika North-east Local Government Area, to hold a special thanksgiving service to God on behalf of Rt. Hon Barr. Victor Nwokolo in respect his victory at the just concluded April poles.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service, the Vicar in charge of the church, Ven Palmer E.O. Melekwe congratulated the new member representing Ika Federal Constituency at the House of Representative, Abuja, Barr. Victor Nwokolo. He said that Hon. Victor Nwokolo has done well to have taken the decision to give thanks to God after his victory, and that before the election exercise, the Barrister was at the church to ask for God’s favour concerning the election. He pointed out that it is a nice thing for one to remember thanking God after receiving from Him. He admonished the congregation to bear in mind that whatever good thing that comes to them is from God, and that they should appreciate the goodness of the Lord in their hearts.
The clergyman enjoined Barr. Nwokolo to carry out his duties with all diligence and to remember always that it is God who places men in high positions. Members of Ika East Forum were ushered to the altar where they presented a giant electric fan to the church in appreciation of what God has done in the life of Barr. Nwokolo. Prayers were also said on behalf of the newly elected member of the House, his entire family and members of Ika East Forum.
At Spanish Guest House, Umunede, where a grand reception was held on behalf of Barr. Victor Nwokolo, the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Frank Igwebuike told the people that they needed to felicitate with Victor Nwokolo, considering the huddles he went through in order to emerge victorious.
Also speaking at the occasion, Chief Benson Iyama, the Eleme of Umunede Kingdom thanked members of the forum for attending the thanksgiving service en-masse. He stated that the victory of Barr. Nwokolo at the pools is a victory for all, saying that it is the believe of everyone that Ika East will witness better things in time to come. He urged the people to rally round the new member and give him the support that he needs to bring development to the area.
Dame Patience Iyasere, former caretaker Chairman for Ika North-east, also spoke at the occasion, saying that it is very proper to thank God for what He has done for the people of Ika East. She also asked for everyone’s support at this time in order for the communities to benefit from the present democratic dispensation. Members of the Forum were later treated to some mouth-watering delicacies .
Other members of Ika East forum that were present at the occasion include Chief Charles Egboh, the Eze Eweiwe of Umunede kingdom, Queen Anthonia Ezeagwu, Hon. Jude Onwuegbuzie, former counselor for Umunede, Hon. S. N. Azubuike, board member, Tourism Board, Nneka Oseji, Chief Okafor Joseph, the Ochudo of Ute-ogbeje kingdom, Chief B.U. Kerry, Dr. Ndu Okonye, Mr. Steve Chiadika and Barr. Eugene Uzum.
