A corp Member Build House for Youth Corpers in Owa Oyibu

A
Batch C Corps member who recently passed out from the one year
National Youth Service as the best corps member in Delta State, Miss
Offiong Udeme Ime has commissioned a two bedroom corpers’ lodge
which she built and donated to the corps members in Owa Oyibu,
headquarters of Ika North East local government area.

Speaking
with Ika Weekly during the commissioning ceremony, Miss Offiong said
she was motivated to embark on the erection of the building as her
personal Community Development (CD) Project because she was
challenged with the accommodation problem facing corps members in
Owa-Oyibu and its environs after batch C NYSC orientation course last
year.

The
graduate of Architecture from the University of Uyo however, pointed
out that being an Architect, she was touched by the accommodation
problem because she knows she had passion to solve the problem,
adding that she was a victim of the problem after orientation
programme before she was provided accommodation by the Nigerian
Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF)

Miss
Offiong, thanked God for making her dream a reality as she
successfully commissioned the project.

She
therefore, enjoined serving corp members to make community
development project their priority as that is the best way of
contributing to the development of their host communities.

The
outstanding corps member said she sourced for materials from
construction companies, individuals, churches, cement dealers, market
women, and friends, disclosing that it was not easy but her
determination, drive and passion sustained her.

Speaking
at the ceremony the NYSC state co-ordinator Mr. Chris Kanayo said
Miss Offiong’s building project was unprecedented as no corps
member in Delta State has ever embarked on such a laudable project
since his administration, adding that serving corps members in the
state should borrow a leaf and be determined in whatever they do.

High
point of the ceremony was the commissioning of the building by the
NYSC state co-ordinator, Mr. Chris Kanayo.

Miss
Offiong Udeme Ime did her primary Assignment (PA) at Imafidonial
Consult Limited, Efeizomor, Street Boji-Boji Owa. An Architectural
Firm, owned by Mr. Andy Imafidon.
