Many days they
say is for the thief but one day is for the owner of the house. This statement
came to the fore in the early hours of
Friday morning of 28th October, 2011 as two suspected thieves,
Friday Morka aka Goli and Onyeka Idibie
aka Boy were arrested by men of the Umunede police. One of the suspected
thieves was said to have engaged the owner of the burgled store situated along
the Benin/Asaba express way in Ekwuoma, in Ika North-east local government area
in a physical combat.
Narrating the
incident to Ika Weekly, the owner of
the store said one of the suspected
thieves that engaged him in a fight planned with a boy who worked under him
until recently to burgle his store. He stated that he was at his store when he
noticed that the generator he was using went off. He said he advanced to see
what was happening to the generator where
he saw Friday breaking into his store. “When he saw me, he confronted
me, but unfortunately for him I overpowered him . We handed him over to the
police in Umunede, where he confessed that he planned the raid with Onyeka
Idibie aka Boy, but out of greed he went without Onyeka who had earlier told
Friday that they would meet at a scheduled place so that his parents will not
know about their secret mission,” he said.
As at the time of
filing this report, Friday and Onyeka, were still in the police net. However, Ika Weekly gathered that this is not the
first time the two suspected criminals have been stealing in the community.
