Rural Devt Drive: Oshiomhole flags-off Igbanke road network

IGBANKE – It was pomp and ceremony at lgbanke,
Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, when the Governor,
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole flagged-off the construction of the 8.5 km road project that will cut across eight communities.
Speaking on behalf of the lgbanke Community, the
President, Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Joseph Olubor said,
the people never believed that the Osagie Hospital/lgbanke Grammar
School Road, will ever be constructed with drainage but with the
intervention of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the fears of the people have
been laid to rest.
The people of lgbanke are witnessing what we thought could never happen.
With the intra-city road, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has written his name in the minds of the people and even children he noted.
According to Hon. Justice Olubor, cynics and
scoffers now know that the lgbanke people are truly from Edo State,
despite the fact that they are from a border town.
While appealing to the contractor to allow the dream
of the governor to be a reality, the President, Customary Court of
Appeal said, “We owe the comrade governor prayers and any weapon
fashioned against his administration shall not prosper in Jesus name.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu was also
instrumental to the realisation of this project. lgbanke people salute
you for rescuing our roads.”
In his remarks, Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams
Oshiomhole maintained that the people of lgbanke are entitled to
development which includes good roads, saying that it is the
responsibility of government to apply public funds for the development
of the state.
According to him, the state government will no more
experiment with contractors, which is why, “we gave the job to a
contractor that will perform to expectation.
We have paid them to mobilise to site and the State
Executive Council has made provision for the balance to be paid because
we do not want the road to end up as an abandoned project.”
The governor also assured that if the contractor
finishes this road project, they will be entitled to get another one.
“The State Government is inspired to do more for the Igbanke people.
When completed
we will put street lights on the road and the Rapid Response Agency
will be directed to deploy a drilling rig to provide and distribute water for the community,” he added.
