Ihu- Iyase
Teachers Association (olor-ru-olor jnr) of Agbor, Ika South Local Government area, Delta State
on Saturday, 9th of February, 2013 elected new executive members that will
pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.
The swearing- in ceremony was
performed on Saturday 19th March, 2013 at No 1 Chulkwuma close off Edobor
State, Agbor.
The newly sworn-in executive
members are : Mr. Atukpor S. A, chairman, Mrs. Adagbon A. N 1st vice chairman,
Mr. Eluhiawe M. O, 2nd vice chairman, Mr. Abaye K.O, secretary General, Mr.
Ogun M.C, financial Secretary Mrs. Emetu V. Treasure, Mr. Ojiefo I. T, public
Relation Officer (PRO), provosts- Mrs. Folorosho P, Mrs. Onyijen F. and Mr.
Amanku H.
Dr. Chukwuma Robinson, who was
the piooner president and one of the founding fathers of the association
administered the oath of office to the new executive, just as he described the
election as free and fair. He thnked the electorial officer, Mr. Ogun Philip
and members of the association for the peaceful conduct of the election.
He congratulated the new
executive, and advised them to abide by the rules and regulation of the
association as stipulated in the constitution. He urged them to carry everybody
along, stressing that they should at anytime work towards the progress and
development of the association. He also encouraged professional teachers who
are idigenes of Ihu-iyase community either home or in diaspora to come and
register and also indentify with their community, because East, west, North
South, home is the best.
The educationist, used the
opportunity to encourage parents that came to grace the occasion to always send
their children/ wards to school, particulary College of Education, Agbor which
is at their door step, adding that the institution offers different courses and
programmes, saying that with his parents
can effectively monitor their social and academic activities instead of
allowing them to travel far at the end there will be no meaningful result.
The newly sworn-in chairman, Mr.
Atukpor S.A said the aims and objectives of the association is to foster unity
among members of Ihu-Iyase indigenous teacher, not minding their sex. He
solicited for the co-operation and support of members, saying that with their
co-operation and support, the association will grow to a higher level of glory.
He added that they will improve on what their former predecessors have done, by
improving welfare of the members of the association.
The immediate past chairman of
the association, Mr. Okwurokwu M.C advised the new executive to always listen
and attens to the challenges of members of the association and always ensure to
take decision that will promote the welfare of members.
