DLA INTENSIFIES WORK ON UPPER ODOZI STREET

Residents of Upper Odozi Street, Agbor
can now heave a sigh of relief as the gully-erosion-ridden street which has
been in a deplorable state for more than a decade is now receiving attention
from  Direct Labour Agency (DLA), an
agency of the Delta State government in charge of the construction and
maintenance of streets/roads in the state.

            Before
now, Upper Odozi was one of the most deplorable streets in Agbor, as some of
its residents used planks to enter into their houses which stand almost three
to four feet below the ground level. Efforts to tar the street in the past did
not produce good result as the previous contractor which the project was
awarded to abandoned it.

            When
Ika Weekly reporters visited the street on Tuesday, 26th March, 2013, work was
already at its completing  stage as hard
cores have been poured and the drainages are being constructed. DLA staff at
the construction site were unwilling to talk to the press but Ika Weekly
gathered that the contract was not influenced by anybody as the Delta State
Government was the one that deemed it fit to construct the street.

            It
could be recalled that DLA has last month tarred Dein Street and have presently
poured asphalt on Imudia and Mariere streets, both in Agbor.
