BOJI-BOJI OWA (Ika Weekly) – Catholic women have been advised to always remember that they are the heart of the home, and as such, should do all in their power to protect their homes.
The advice was given by the Parish Priest of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Boji-Boji Owa, Very Rev. Fr. Samuel Igwenwanne in a goodwill message to women on the occasion of the 2007 Annual Mass Return and launching of ten million naria fund Raising ceremony for the building of ultra-modern parish hall.
Describing the home as the domestic church, the priest admonished the women to keep themselves holy and respectful to their husband.
He said the launching was timely because couples who wed in the parish undergo a lot of stress looking for a decent hall for their reception, and that there are certain social activities that should have been taking place in the parish if there was a decent hall.
Going down memory lane, the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) president of the church, Mrs. Joy Nkem Ilechie said August Mass Return in Issele-Uku Diocese began about ten years ago.
She said the programme has provided a veritable ground for the re-union of women who have contributed greatly to the development of their parish and diocese in general.
Mrs. Ilechie further expressed thanks to God for the achievements recorded by CWO of St. Dominic’s parish, and commended the women for their full participation in this year’s programme.
The occasion featured cultural dances, match past and other varieties by the CWO members.
The climax of the programme was the launching of ten million Naira fund raising for the building of ultra-modern hall, which was headed by Pastor Gladys Egbule of Kingdom Missionary Church, Warri.
Dignitaries at the occasion include, Mrs. Ogbolu (C.I.E) Ika South Local Government Area, Director CNI Rentals, Chief Mrs. Isibor, Sir and Lady Perry Aliogo amongst many others.
