IKA WEEKLY – Security operatives in Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas have been advised to work together to ensure that the area is crime free in this period of the “Ember” months.
The call was made by the chairperson of Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Delta State, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Esther Dimka who is also the wife of the Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Hezekiah Dimka, when she paid a visit to all police stations in Ika land.
ACP Dimka said the Police Community Relations Committee members, which she regards, as policemen in mufti should work harder and team up with the police, irrespective of their units, and be more vigilant to ensure that there will be peace in the “Ember” months.
She praised the PCRC members for being supportive to the police in the area of information, and for the structure they built for the police.
She urged the forcemen to work hard to combat crimes, and not to use the “ember” months as a period for extorting money from people.
She told the Police boss in the area to organize prayer groups, quoting from the scripture, psalm 127, which states “Except the Lord watches the city, the watchman, watches in vain”.
The chairperson, told the members in the association to love their husbands and to be praying for them, adding that prayer is more effective than gun.
She also urged them to be of good conducts in the barracks, and promised that those things they lack, like shops and schools will soon be provided for them.
ACP, Esther Dimka and her entourage were welcomed by the PCRC members and Police officers and men and Wives Association members. In response, Chief Donald Ugbaja, DIG (Rtd.) who spoke on their behalf, thanked the Chairperson and her entourage for finding time to come and visit the security operatives in the area, adding that it made them feel happy and strengthened to do more. He prayed that God will lead them back.
