Agbor Erosion Control, Road Dualisation To Cost N5b

Delta State government is committing about N5 billion towards finding solution to erosion menace in Agbor and the dualisation of the old Lagos-Asaba road. Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, disclosed this at the presentation of hospital, science laboratory equipment by the member representing Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Doris Uboh.

Okowa, the chairman of the occasion, pointed out that the Ika area had benefited greatly under the current democratic experiment right from the administration of Chief James Ibori, stressing that the era of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan had ushered in a new dawn for the people of the area.

According to him, "since the inception of the Uduaghan administration, the people of Ika have had more than a fair share of what is due them as demonstrated by the erosion project and the dualisation of the old Lagos-Asaba Road, which will cost over N5 billion."

Okowa, who hails from the area, commended Uboh for giving back to the people that elected her and urged other indigenes of the area to take a cue from her. The event, which held at the Government Field, Agbor headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area, attracted notable sons and daughters of the Ika South and Ika North East councils, including the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Keagborekuzi 1.

It also attracted top government functionaries in the state including the state’s deputy governor, Professor Amos Utuama, commissioners for Works, Paul Osaji; Education, Elizabeth Uvoh-Gardner; Women Affairs, Queen Victoria Ikenchuku; Science and Technology, Roland Eyime, among others.
