UMUNEDE CELEBRATES YAM FESTIVAL, SEPTEMBER 29.

UMUNEDE (Ika Weekly) – The 2007 Iwa-ji (New Yam) festival of the Umunede Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, holds September 29-30.

                  

This was announced by His Royal Majesty, Agadagidi 1, The Obi of Umunede Kingdom.

 

According to him, the Iwa-ji is a period for thanksgiving to Almighty God for the good harvest of the year and prayer to God for the blessing and prosperity of the land and its people.

            

The two days festival with the theme “Cultural Revival” will feature press conference; mid term meeting of the Umunede progressive Union, led by Chief (Barr) Edwin Osunhor; paying of homage by the UPU and Chiefs to His Royal Majesty, Agadagidi 1,the Obi of Umunede Kingdom; story telling, Cultural Carnival and Traditional dances among other activities.

            

A release signed by the National Publicity Secretary of Umunede Progressive Union and Secretary designate, obi-in-council, Barrister Ignatius Orisewezie, said all Umunede sons and daughters at home and in Diaspora, friends and well wishers and the general public are expected at the celebration.
