WOMEN CLEAN UP CTC MARKET

OROGODO, AGBOR (Ika Weekly) – The environmental sanitation of the CTC market in Orogodo metropolis, Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, was given a facelift on Saturday during the state-wide monthly environmental sanitation exercise when market women engaged in the clearing of debris loitering all areas of the market.

                            

The women who were led by their Ika South Local Government Area leader, Chief Mrs. Margret Amechi, the Oriuwe of Agbor Kingdom were seen gathering refuse together, as a pay loader caterpilla was seen clearing the mountain of refuse, and evacuating them into a waiting tipper.

 

Speaking to Ika Weekly correspondent that monitored the exercise, Chief Amechi cautioned users of the market to be conscious on the need for proper sanitation in the market. She praised the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Social and Community Development, Hon. Queen Victoria Ikenchukwu for providing them with the tractor and the tipper that evacuated refuse from the market. She equally thanked the palace for its contributory role in seeing to the improvement of the sanitary conditions of markets in Ika South.

                            

In the same vein, the leader of CTC market, Mrs. Roseline Obiazi has appealed to both Ika South Local Government Council and the Delta State Government to come to their aid by providing water and fencing the market so as to ward off criminals who have been terrorizing and stealing their goods. She also solicited for the construction of modern toilets.

                            

Mrs. Obiazi stated that the market has been experiencing low patronage, and therefore urged the government to develop it with modern facilities as stated above for increased patronage.
