FUEL CONSUMERS WARNED AGAINST ADULTERATED PRODUCTS

AGBOR (Ika Weekly) – Consumers of petroleum products have been urged to purchase the products from government approved retail outlets so as to avoid getting adulterated products.

The advice was given by Mr. Abraham Okocha, an independent petroleum product marketer in Agbor while speaking to Ika Weekly in his office on Tuesday.

He gave the advice against the backdrop of reported cases of kerosene explosions in Warri and Port-Harcourt recently, where some persons were either killed or seriously injured. He stated that such ugly occurrence could be avoided if people desist from patronizing road side dealers of petroleum products.

Mr. Okocha who runs Oando Filling Station, along old Lagos/Asaba road, Agbor, disclosed, that the stallion does do not exceed government approved official price unless when forced by circumstance beyond their control. He stated that sometimes, they have to go to Lagos to get the products at normal prizes and that in such cases they consider transportation and other expenses incurred in getting the products. He however absolved Independent Petroleum marketers from any sharp practice, noting that the seeming scarcity sometimes experienced by Nigerians is due to the springing up of many filling stations, which must be serviced by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and pleaded with consumers to be patient, as the refineries are currently undergoing Turn Around Maintenance (TAM).

Mr. Okocha, while responding to the question on the deplorable Old Lagos/Asaba road and the bad Orogodo bridge emphasized that the government of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan should be given time to settle down, stressing that he was confident that the governor will fulfil his campaign promises.

He praised the appointments of the Queen Mother, Hon. Queen Victoria Ikenchukwu and Hon. Chief Lawrence Osiegbe as members of the Delta State Executive Council, and called on them to use their positions to enhance the lives of Deltans and Ika nation in particular.

Mr. Okocha commended the president, Alhaji Musa Umar Yar’Adua for his numerous and purposeful reforms, which in his words “will transform the  socio-economic  lives of Nigerians”, if religiously implemented.
