It was a
pathetic moment for the members of Liberation Power Ministry and the family of
Mrs. Rosemary Okafor, Igbodo of N0 32b Onyibe Street in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika
North East Local Government Area, Delta State, as a church building, bar and
residential building were gutted by fire on Wednesday, 24th April, 2013 at
about 1:05am.
Narrating the ugly incident to
newsmen, Mrs. Rosemary Okafor Igbodo said, she had no idea what caused the fire
which she said started at about 1:05am on that fateful day.
According to her “I was sleeping
in the house when I was called on phone
at midnight that my bar was on fire. When I got to the scene, we tried every
means to quench it. The men of the fire
service tried their best, but it was
quite unfortunate that the fire had gone beyond our control. I thank God that
no life was lost even though I lost my three deep freezers, two industrial
fans, two big show glass, one big generator, among other property were burnt.
Among those that spoke to
newsmen were members of Liberation Power Ministry, who on behalf of the Pastor
Mr. Lucky Isikima of the church said “the fire started at about 12:15 am and
before they could call the pastor of the church the fire had razed down the
entire building.
They therefore appealed to
government at all levels for financial support, stressing that property worth
over N1.million naira were lost to the inferno.
Hon. Onyeka Igbodo, one of the
owners of the shops that was razed by fire lamented the huge loss, the church
and his drinking spot. He wondered what caused the inferno since there was no
(PHCN) light around that area at the time the incident took place.
He however suspected fowl play
since a similar incident had happened in that area not quite long ago.
