ALIOSIMI ROAD TAKES A NEW SHAPE BY COMMUNITY EFFORTS

IKA WEEKLY – The Aliosimi road in Ika North East Local Government Area, that had been abandoned for years by the local and state governments is now wearing a new look through communal effort

                     

Chief Efam Ijeh the Odebemeze of Owa, made the assertion, when Ika Weekly reporter visited him in his house at  Owa-Aliosimi.

                     

According to him, a committee was constituted in Aliosimi land office to ensure that the road, which had been long abandoned, could be repaired. He said that he is the Vice chairman, while the Chairman is Mr. Nduka Ikehi adding that the construction of the road was made possible after discussing with the Chairman of Aliosimi land office, Apostle R.E. Egwu.

                     

Chief Ijeh said, the contract was awarded to Mr. Ofili of Ogwashi-Uku, whom they paid the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000), adding that the road was graded from Aliosimi round about to Efeizomor road, from there to Catholic church road.

                     

He said, the inhabitants of Aliosimi had suffered untold hardship while plying the road, especially when farmers are transporting their harvest to their respective homes and to nearby markets.

         

                     

Stressing that they were in total blackout for over nine months before they were able to restore their power supply by effort of the community,Chief Ijeh expressed thanks to Chief Lawrence Osiegbu for  purchasing the electricity poles which were destroyed by rain storm.

                     

Chief Ijeh appealed to the state governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and the commissioner for works to come to their aid by bringing development through the establishment of industries and youth empowerment so as to reduce unemployment, cultism, and other social vices.
