n had known that her own daughter
would cut her to pieces that fateful Friday evening, she would not have
remained anywhere close to Alijemisi quarters, in Alisimie in Ika South Local
Government Area.
The unfortunate incident
occured after an alleged long period of torture and spiritual manipulation
alleged meted out on the suspect. Sources close to Ika Weekly revealed that
Mrs. Patience who, some time ago, lost her husband in circumstances which she
believed were spiritually manipulated, was taking care of her little children
alone as it was alleged that the woman, Mrs. Patience was a hard-working
business woman. But after some years of successful ventures, she began to
experience a lot of set backs in her business. Her inability to cope with the
harsh situation she found herself led to her moving from one church to the
other in search of solutions to her problems. It was further alleged that the
suspected killer was told, through some revelations in some of the churches
that her suffering were not ordinary and that she was experiencing some mental
problems, also due to some spiritual manipulations. Irked by the revelations
she had been receiving from these men of God, and believing that she was truly
insane, it was alleged that the woman, armed with a machete, confronted her own
mother inside a locked room and demanded to know from her the reasons behind
all her predicaments in life. The suspect, not satisfied with her mother?s
pleading and explanations, began to inflict machete cuts on her mother, which
consequently led to her death through loss of blood before help could come. It
was after the deed had been done that security agents got to the scene of the
incident where they met the gory sight of the dead woman inside a room in the
family house.
When confronted by the
security agents, it was alleged that the suspect who refused to run away from
the scene of the incident, explained that she was mentally derailed, and that
she was right in carrying out the dastardly act on her mother.
Speaking on the sad
incident, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Agbor Police Station, CSP
(Barr.) Emmanuel Aina confirmed the incident, saying that it was unfortunate
that such a thing could take place. He said that the suspect has since been
arrested and that the matter has been taken to the State Criminal Investigation
Department, CID, Asaba for further investigations. He explained that the police
will also take time to establish if the suspect was truly mentally retarded or
not, during the time of committing the crime.
As at the time of filing
this report, the news of the killing has spread like wildfire in and around
Agbor metropolis. Most residents of Alijemisi and environs expressed shock over
the unfortunate incident. Some of them prayed that such a thing should never
accur in the land anymore. The remains of the late woman has since been buried
in her family compound at Alijemisi quarters, Alisimie.
