All is set for the launching of a book on Ika tradition, entitled," The Role of Culture in Customary Administration, including numerals," written by an erudite scholar in the legal profession, Barrister J.K Aghaolor ESQ. The unveiling ceremony is slated for the 17th December, 2011.
Speaking with Ika Weekly, the Barr. Aghaolor who is an indigene of Owanta Community in Ika North-east Local Government Area, said he decided to research on Ika culture as a way of contributing his quota in rescuing the peoples culture from extinction.
The legal luminary remarked that the book contains fourteen (14) chapters, while the chapter 6 of it deals with counting system based on numerals, stating that Ika people have laudable counting system, developed from yam cultivation. He said the counting system runs from one (Mbu) to guod trillion (Obiri bara).

The author however, disclosed that the book also gives descriptive analysis of reincarnation (Ilua Elu) as the Eastern, Western and Ika people’s view about the subject were effectively compared, noting that controversial event such as the "Crew-read war" of 1906 was analyzed. While speaking on what spurred him to carry out the extensive research, the Barr. Aghaolor said he got inspired after studying sociology of Law in London, in addition to other subjects in Law, and pointed out that readers would find the book interesting and useful.
