A new executive for oil and gas host
communities (HOSTCOM) under OPL275 has been inaugurated on Wednesday April 2,
2014 at Odogun Hall, Owa Royal Palace, Owa-Oyibu
The
inauguration which was led by HRM, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor, II, HRM Godwin
Nzemeke, the Obi of Nsukwa, HRM Ezeagwu Ezeweali I (JP) the Obi of Umunede, HRM
(Dr) Ifeanyi Chukwuka Alekwe Lekwe II, JP the Obi of Mbiri and HRM Anthony
Ogboli Onwelikwu 1 the Obi of Ejeme Aniogor, and a host of others enjoined the
inaugurated members to embrace peace and promote cultural values in order to
have a peaceful society, noting that without the involvement of traditional
rulers in the affairs of Hostcom, meaningful development cannot take place.
Speaking
in an address, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II the Obi of Owa kingdom welcomed the
Host Communities. Saying the issues before the Opl 275 was how all the
communities involved would benefit from the company.
Dr.
Efeizomor while stressing how he and
some traditional rulers in the region visited the former president
Olusegun Obasenjo before they were referred to Mr. Dangoro, who was then the
minister of oil and gas, before a map that signified that Delta North is rich
with Oil, stated that it has became imperative to inaugurate a standard and
sensitive Host Com in OPL 275, to enable them create peaceful awareness between
the communities involved and Pan Ocean, adding that Opl 275 did not want
representativest that are not eligible.
Also
speaking, HRM Nzemeke, the Obi of Ijeme
unor thanked the Obi of Owa for calling the traditional rulers together adding
that initially they thought that he diverted the siting of OPL 275 flow station
to Owa- Alidinma and appealed to the Obi
to always carry everybody along.
In
his address HRM Dr. Caleb Eze Agbulem, the Obi of Nsukwa, commended Dr.
Efeizomor, for calling the communities together, while appealing to the people
present to carry the former Hostcom along for the purose of peace in the
region. Speaking further, Dr. Ezeagbulem, frowned at the contractor handling
OPL 275 saying that they are responsible for the problems in the communities.
In
his brief speech, Hon Princess Ijenwa Okunonke, the Ika North East Local
government boss, commended the Obi of Owa Kingdom saying that the meeting is
aimed to restore peace in the land.
While
expressing delight at the turn out to the inauguration, Princess Okunonke,
enjoined Pan Ocean to embrace peace, because God did not bless OPL 275 with Oil
so that we will kill ourselves. She enjoined the inaugurated members to take
job serious and be accountable to one another.
In
a short remark ,chief Nkemchor Okwokenye, the chairman of Hoscom OPL 275,
promised a purposeful leadership, premised on peace and constructive dialogue
for the interest of the general welfare
of their people and the multinational.
He
assured the gathering that all the communities involves will be judiciously
represented.
The
inaugurated members include; Chief Nkemchor Okwokenye chairman, Mr. E. Eluebo,
Barr. Joe Egwu Legal adviser and others.
