BOJI-BOJI OWA (Ika Weekly) – The proprietress of Royal Academy Group of schools, Boji-Boji Owa, Chief Mrs. Patience Mosieri has called for clear identification of persons who come to collect children of the school from designated bus-stops to ensure the safety of the pupils, as she warned that no child should be handed over to an unknown person.
Chief Mrs. Mosieri made the call during a meeting of Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) at the school premises along Ajuebon street Boji-Boji Owa. She said the measure was to ensure the safety of the pupils as most of them are too young to reject any offer at designated bus-stops.
She said the call is imperative as the school has provided buses that will be picking the children, in order to relieve parents living far from the school the burden of bringing the children by themselves.
The proprietress pleaded with the parents to use the right gate when dropping their wards, to avoid the usual difficulties experienced at the school main gate every morning.
During the meeting which was the first of its kind, members agreed that mid-day meal should be introduced in the school to take care of the children between the normal morning classes and the extension classes.
According to the school management, the extension classes are in place to help the children have a better grasp on what they are expected to learn for the term; adding that they want to maintain the good standard the school has been associated with.
The high point of the meeting was the election and inauguration of PTA executive members, which include Mr. Tony Uzuwuogwu, Chairman, Mrs. Okechukwu R.N., Vice Chairman, the principal of the school, Mr. G.O. Okponu, Secretary, to be assisted by Mr. Wilfred Iweagwu, Mr. Vincent Oghene and Mr. Christian Ubido as provosts, Mr. Okwudiogwu N.D, Financial Secretary, and Mrs. Gabari Agatha, treasurer.
Speaking on behalf of the new officers, the chairman thanked the members for choosing them and promised to do all within their powers to maintain the trust reposed in them, as he prayed God to give them the strength and vision to pilot the school to a greater height.
He commended the parents for their massive turn-out for the meeting, and advised them to keep it up as important issues concerning the school shall be discussed and decisions taken at every meeting.
