The Obi of Akumazi-Umuocha, in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, H.R.M. Obi Stephen Chukwuyemeze. JP, has during the week appealed for government’s presence such as social amenities and infrastructural development in his Kingdom.

In a chat with newsmen at his Palace, the Obi revealed that his Kingdom has been in support of the ruling People Democratic Party (P.D.P) since the party came into existence.

He therefore, appealed for the construction of Ekwuoma to Akumazi-Umuocha road, along side link roads in Akumazi, as Ekwuoma is a clan under Akumazi Kingdom.

Obi Stephen called for the completion of Akumazi Health Centre, while he bemoaned how his subjects travel to nearby communities for health care, adding that Akumazi is in need of Solar Powered street lights.

Having the welfare of youths at heart, HRM Obi Stephen did not fail to plead with the government to provide jobs for youths who are roaming the streets with their certificates, adding that the government should also checkmate their (youth) improper dressing.

He called on political representatives of Ika extraction to go back to their various constituencies and find out the problems that exist therein and seek lasting solutions to them instead of listening to praise singers.

To contractors handling government projects, he enjoined them not to abandon those projects for if they do, it will ridicule the government of Gov Uduaghan, because "One good turn deserve another".

  1. Akumazi Umuocha as I was told by my grand mother Mrs Ukpe Akumabor, is a great land and from my experience, there is no doubt that the town Akumazi Umuocha has contributed her quota in Ika North East Local Government area of Delta State. However, it most be noted that the past government of then Bendel State and the present government of Delta State have over the years abandoned the town. I am therefore appealing to the present governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to give Akumazi Kingdon her due recognition and see that development come back to the town.
