IG orders further investigation on alleged militants nabbed at Agbor; NURTW warns Ibude to stop meddling

The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Hafiz Rigim, has ordered the Federal Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, to take over further investigations into the alleged criminal activities of the six militants arrested in Agbor, Delta State, recently

The IGP, who  gave the directives following police preliminary reports on the activities of the gang members, also ordered men of the FCID to thoroughly quiz an unnamed transporter, who allegedly recruited the suspects to perpetrate their nefarious activities  before nemesis caught up with them.

This is coming as the  police has launched a man-hunt for the remaining suspects by spreading their dragnets to cover all parts of the state.

It will be recalled that two weeks ago, a Senior Council official (name withheld) with the Ika South Local Government Area, allegedly recruited a six-man gang of militants to Agbor to foment trouble, an action seen to be  at variance with the peace and security development agenda of the Delta State government.

In another development, The State leadership of the National union of Road Transport Workers NURTW,  has appealed to the Delta State Government to call the chairman of Ika South Local Government, Mr. Hilary Ibudeh to order and avoid meddling in the affairs of the union in the interest of peace and security.

The state chairman of the union Chief Ifeanyi Obi made the appeal while speaking  after an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council of the union to review the activities of the various branches of the union in the state.

The union leader frowned at the activities of the Ika South Chairman whom they accused of inciting the a former branch chairman of the union against Comrade Ameachi Igumbor led  branch executive of the union.

The union also criticized the purported approval of a private commercial motor park for the immediate past chairman who they claim, has no vehicle to run the park describing the action as provocative and done in bad faith.

On the alleged plan to dissolve the branch Executive council through the State Assembly, the Union leader urged the lawmakers to reflect on the events that gave rise to the sacking of the former Executive saying that it was sequel to the negative security report that indicted the erstwhile chairman on Sundry criminal activities.

Reacting to the development the Ika South branch Chairman of the Union Comrade Amaechi Igumbor expressed concern over the mischievous activities of the council chairman who wants to cry wolf when there is non as sight saying that the union leadership was working in tandem will the policy objectives of the Delta State Government.
