Yar?Adua appoints Cairo Ojougboh as Special Assistant

President Umaru Musa Yar?Adua has appointed two former members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Cairo Ojougboh (2003-2007) and Hon. Ibrahim Zailani (1999-2003) as his Special Assistants on National Assembly Matters.
The appointments were communicated in separate letters to the duo which were signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe and dated June 18, 2008.
Ojougboh, who was chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources and aspirant to the governorship position in Delta State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), fills the southern slot while Zailani who represented Toro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State in the fourth session of the House, takes the northern slot.
They would collaborate with the newly appointed Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Mohammed Abba-Aji (2003 to 2007), who replaced Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, in the task of maintaining harmony between the Executive and the Legislature.
They are expected to deploy their vast experiences and contacts in the legislature to ensure, through lobby, that the positions of the Presidency are pushed through with little or no disagreement.
Both appointees, who have since resumed their liaison duties, played active roles in the invitation of past and present National Assembly leaders to last Friday?s meeting with Yar?Adua.
